Simplify and Unclutter Your Life
Here are a few tips and tricks to make your home stylish yet uncluttered:
1) Try taking all accessories out of your rooms, dusting them off, then adding in only the ones that look the best. Collections look best all together, not scattered throughout your home. Ask your children to donate the toys they no longer play with to a needy child. If you need to get rid of some items, consider a garage sale or selling them at an online auction. Do you really need all that stuff???
2) Take the children's artwork off the refrigerator and hang it in frames in their room, the bathroom, laundry room, or play room (it doesn't matter if they are 2 or 22). Make the front of your refrigerator free of all clutter, magnets, and everything else. If you have to hang something on the refrigerator, try hanging it on the sides only.
3) You've heard this one before "a place for everything and everything in its place". Invest in storage units, Tupperware bins, bookshelves, and any other storage device that will help keep things organized. If you have tall ceilings, use a ladder and store seasonal items up high.
4) Always ask yourself what the focal point of the room is. Most rooms should have at least one focal point that is the first thing someone focuses on when walking into a room. Consider investing in a beautiful chandelier, rug, or centerpiece on the table.
5) Take all of the wonderful photos you have collected in easel frames that are cluttering your furniture and put them in wall frames that coordinate. Use frames that are all black, all gold, or all wood in different sizes or collage frames. For a more artsy flair, print them in black and white. Hang them on the same wall as a collection. This collection may grow to cover the entire wall - how wonderful!
